Thame Players at 80

Celebrating 80 years of our local talented amateur dramatic theatre group



This brand new display is situated in the Museum Reception area, with items from the museum’s own collection of posters and programmes from previous productions and also props kindly lent for the display by the Players.  Look out for Aladdin’s lamp, a treasure chest from “Jack and the Beanstalk” and a bird in a cage from “Tom Jones”.

Thame Players has over 150 members, based at the Players Theatre in Nelson Street, Thame. Every year. the Players put on a range of productions including dramas, musicals, comedies and pantomime. The theatre also hosts visiting shows including singers and comedians, and holds regular social evenings for members.

The Players Theatre is located in the former St Mary’s Church Hall which dates from 1913. Thame Players secured a 50 year lease on the building in 1977 and then acquired the freehold in 1997 and re-opened after a major refurbishment in 2002.
