The Johnny Smythe Story – by his son Eddy

One of only 60 West Africans to serve in the RAF in WWII. Johnny flew several missions before being shot down, captured, and placed in a prisoner of war camp. He survived and went on to become Britain’s first black barrister, the Sierra Leone Attorney General and was also a pivotal figure in the Windrush generation.

On retirement he moved to Thame to be with his family and is buried in Thame Churchyard.

A truly incredible story and one not to be missed.
