New Window Display – Thame Haberdashery

A fascinating selection of handicraft supplies from the late 19th and 20th centuries. Take a trip down memory lane to see a variety of knitting needles, wool, sewing patterns, cottons, embroidery silks and even a darning mushroom, as well as handmade toys.

On the top shelf there is a portrait of Penelope Loader with samples of lace cloths. Penelope had a haberdashery shop in the High Street in the early 19th century.

The display can be found in the reception area of the Museum.
