Donate Items

If you have an item which you would like to donate to the Museum and you believe it meets the above criteria please contact us by email: collections@thamemuseum.org or call in to the Museum to tell us about the object.

The Museum’s Collection includes hundreds of objects, photographs, books and documents related to the Thame area, managed by the Collections Team of volunteers. Most of the items in the Museum collection have been generously donated to the Museum, for which we are most grateful.

We welcome offers of donations to the collection but we are unable to accept everything that is offered to us. We therefore need to know more about the item(s) so that we can assess their suitability to the collection. Our main criteria are a local connection and whether the object helps us tell the story of Thame and its people. In order to properly assess a donation offer we need as much information as you can give and photographs of the object(s) would be of great assistance.

The reasons we may decline an offer are:

  • We already have a similar item in our collection
  • The item does not meet our goal of telling the story of Thame
  • The item isn’t in good enough condition
  • There isn’t enough information about the history of the item
