A child’s pottery Disney tea-set from the 1950s, with cup and saucer and plates plus a teapot, jug and sugar basin, decorated with pictures of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck.

Made by Wadeheath Ware. This company, originally started by John Wade in 1867, was known for its Art Deco ceramics in the 1930s, then after World War 2, it began producing collectable whimsies featuring various cartoon characters.

Walt Disney founded his company with his brother in 1923 to produce animated cartoons. Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 and became an icon for the Walt Disney Company. Donald Duck came along in 1934. The company is now one of the best-known names in entertainment in the world.
