Schools and Education

Welcome to our Schools and Education page. We offer a range of ways to support you with your curriculum at both Primary and Secondary level. We can provide activities at the museum, loan boxes to schools, guided walks or consultations on local historical information and resources. Scroll down to find out more.

We offer a range of themed activities which can be tailored to your need including:

  • Local History Studies
  • The Romans in Thame
  • Life in Elizabethan Thame
  • The Civil War
  • The Victorians
  • World War II
  • Toys old and new
  • Domestic life in Thame in the past
  • Thame as a market town
  • Farming in the past
  • Crime in the past

If what you want doesn’t fit these themes do contact us as where possible we can provide bespoke packages. We are excited to now be able to offer a Roman themed visit as recent archaeology has discovered interesting evidence of Roman life in Thame.

Our loan boxes can contain original and replica objects, photographs and facsimiles of contemporary publications, along with teacher notes on the contents. Boxes can be bespoke according to your need so do contact us to discuss what we can provide. Some key themes available are:

  • Toys in the past
  • Domestic life around 100 years ago
  • Romans (this includes both replica items and large models of a Romano British Farm and a corn drying facility with hypocaust)
  • Shopping in Thame around 100 years ago
  • World War II

Our consultations are FREE.

Self-organised school visits on normal museum opening days are FREE. We do however ask that you contact us first to discuss dates and the proposed size of the party.
