Shop window

Throughout the year the Shop Window in reception holds various displays from our store cupboard collections. This month we are showing a magnificent display of cameras.

This new display commemorates Robert J Brand Chemist shop, originally at 95 High Street, Thame, (now the Shaw Trust) which also sold cameras.

Across the road at 16, High Street was Thame Photographic Studios, which did the developing and printing of photos and took studio portraits.

Our collection of cameras comprises models of various types and ages, including a 2A Kodak Box Brownie, a camera in its simplest form; a Kodak Bellows folding camera from the 1920s; a Kodak Brownie Holiday camera, and a Kodak Brownie Flash camera with flash gun.

Other types on display include a Bell and Howell 220 Wilshire 8mm Movie Camera from 1956, and a 1960s small Kodak 4000 Disk camera with its case, instruction book and two films.

More up-to-date cameras include a Sony Cybershot digital camera from the 1990s and a Pentax Optio Digital camera from the 2000s.
